31 Octubre, Halloween/31 OCTOBER, HALLOWEEN

You know that we love  parties and that we believe that any holiday is a good chance for setting up an event with friends.

Halloween is coming, and although it is a party of Celtic origin, in Spain we are more and more who celebrate that day disguising ourselves and sharing the night with our  friends and family, but … how do they celebrate it in the rest of the countries?

In the United States they celebrate it in all its glory. It is a special date  for them, and if at Christmas they are the best ones decorating their houses, in Halloween they are not left behind!

The youngest in the house  spend all the afternoon preparing their best costumes and carving the pumpkin lanterns they will later fill with trick or treating knickknacks.

Meanwhile, teenagers have  already left behind candies and replaced it with  the visit to the neighbors to watch terrifying movie sessions. Yes, everyone in disguise! At the same time,  adults organize big parties with all the family and friends, enjoying decorations and terrifying disguises.

The origin of this party is Celtic, reason why it’s also celebrated in Ireland. The Irish have typical dishes that only eat that night, as the Colcannon, a kind of potato cake with onion and cabbage. They  believe that night the spirits return to earth in search of a body to occupy, that is why they disguise themselves to «deceive» and light large bonfires to frighten them.

Ah! As a curiosity … that night is forbidden to disguise yourself as a fairy!

In Mexico, the meaning of this party is very different. For the Mexicans, the night of October 31 shares the stage with the Day of the Dead, which is celebrated on November 2. The streets and houses are filled with colors and altars in honor of the beloved departed, remembering what they did together, as they were … All accompanied by a lot of food based on corn and “dead bread”.

And if so far we have said that Halloween is a festival that has gained strength in recent years, this is what is happening in the wedding world, too! But are there people who are really getting married on Halloween night? Well the answer is yes! Any night is perfect to start that road together, even if it’s the night of the dead. And of course, if you get married on October 31, the decor should go according to the festivity! Here we bring you a couple of examples of terrifying weddings!

Some weddings are really full of terrifying details. The bride’s updo, the groom’s wreath, the crockery …. all according to Halloween;  for your guests the most creepy evening is guaranteed.

Y tú…¿truco o trato?

And you … trick or treat?
