One more Saturday we are here talking about the nuptial world; trends, decoration, news, doubts …. Today, we expose one of the great dilemmas of our couples. Round or rectangular tables?

In our country, until about a few years ago, we did not conceive the idea that there would be no round tables at a wedding. It is what has ever been. The guests are distributed in small groups: the table of the cousins, the table of friends, the commitments (this is always there! Hehe), while in other countries long tables have always been part of the tradition, typical of a great meal family.

But like everything else in this life, the nuptial world evolves, and more and more couples dare to break with traditions, feel like innovating and trying new combinations for their wedding day. So, before you decide wether to choose a round or rectangular table, we ask you to read the post and then make the best decision! 😉

Mesas redondas

Round Tables

Today, the round table is still the most used for weddings, as they are considered better for diners to talk to each other. In a round table there is no «hierarchy», because no one is at the end of the table or at the beginning.

There are different sizes of round tables, which allow you to sit from 8 to 12 guests per table, leaving adequate space between them so that they feel comfortable and not like canned sardines.

Mesas rectangulares

Rectangular Tables

Rectangular tables are becoming popular in casual and country weddings. The idea of long tables creates a much more familiar and close atmosphere, although unlike the round tables, in a long table it is more difficult to talk with the other guests. Dialogues are between the people you have on each side and with the three people ahead, but not much more.

Long tables can be distributed in different ways; you can place them in a U-shape if you are not many guests and so have a general view of all, or create a single endless table as long as the space allows. They are really spectacular imperial tables, although somewhat less comfortable.

Pros y contras de las mesas redondas

Pros:

Pros and Cons of  Round Tables

Pros:

  1.  They occupy less space so they are ideal for smaller areas
  2.  They allow you to organize dinner / food space in the best conditions
  3.  It is easier to plan the seating of each table by groups.
  4. In round tables it is easier for all the guests to to have a nice conversation

Cons:

  1. You can only make groups of 8-12 people, so if you have bigger groups it is more difficult to organise the seating plan.
  2. Sometimes you have a single couple and you must put it on a table of 8 … it is not always easy to gather guests! 😉
  3. Few round tables that allow you not to put tablecloth … Almost all should be covered with tablecloth, and not all bride and groom like that.

Pros y contras de las mesas rectangulares

Pros:

  3. Te permiten una decoración algo mas elaborada.
  4. Te permite no poner mantel.

Pros and Cons of Rectangular Tables

Pros:

  1.  You can place many guests without having to separate groups.
  2. They are more showy and beautiful, especially in country side spaces
  3. They allow a more elaborate decoration.
  4. They don’t need a tablecloth.
  5. You can distribute them in T or U shape..
  6. You can skip the seating of your guests!

Cons:

  1. They should not be too wide, as the guests should not be too far apart  from the chat.
  2. Normally the venues have round tables, so renting the rectangular ones will require an additional expense.
  3. It is more difficult to distribute them if the space is reduced.
